Tell us a little bit about your story, and let’s dive into the boring investor.
Brett
Okay, well, yeah, so, Brett, I’m a little embarrassed to share this the truth here, but when I sold my company in 1997 to a public firm. I actually thought, hey, I’m a full-time investor. Now I’ll put that on my business card. And the truth is, I wasn’t. I was a full-time speculator. I didn’t know the difference. And Iyou know what, I think the problem was I was young, ambitious, and I thought I should get the same excitement, the same thrill from investing, that I got from being an entrepreneur. I didn’t understand that there’s a massive difference. And so, I made a lot of mistakes. I mean, I basically call myself now I was an entrepreneurial investor. Entrepreneurial investors. They stay in startup mode for a long time. They get a rush out of the process. They repeat the learning curve over and over and over. They often are speculators, and many of them end up living in a mansion, or others end up retiring working as a greeter at Walmart. And there’s nothing wrong with being a greeter at Walmart. We need those, but it’s not where most of your listeners want to end up, and I certainly don’t. And so, I it took me a long, longtime and a lot of study and a lot of painful mistakes, a lot of lost money. You know, I had a podcast called How to lose money for years, and it was a wealth building podcast, don’t worry, but learn, I eventually learned that the path to attaining true wealth is usually by being a boring investor. So that’s kind of the backstory on that. Brett,
