In today’s real estate market, success isn’t just about buying great assets—it’s about structuring smarter outcomes. For high-net-worth investors facing significant capital gains and increasing complexity around exits, strategy matters more than ever. Zane Jacobs of Parallel Wealth Partners approaches real estate investing through a broader lens, helping investors move beyond transactional thinking and into intentional wealth design—where tax efficiency, liquidity, and long-term flexibility take center stage.

Rather than focusing solely on acquisitions, Zane emphasizes how investors can optimize the entire lifecycle of their real estate—especially at the point of sale. By aligning investment decisions with advanced planning strategies, investors can preserve more of their gains, redeploy capital more effectively, and ultimately create greater freedom with their wealth. This shift—from chasing deals to engineering outcomes—is what separates short-term wins from truly scalable, lasting success.

Zane Jacobs

Hey, Brett, appreciate you guys having me here today. Look forward to this conversation,

Brett

Absolutely, sir. And for our listeners, get to know you for the first time. Would you give us a little bit about your story and your story and your current focus?

Zane Jacobs

Yeah. So, Zane Jacobs, I’m 39 years old, about to turn 40. I have a background like Brett said, in the military when I was 18, I was fresh out of high school, went in the Marines, did a couple tours overseas. When I came back, I was then in law enforcement for the next eight years, while I was going through undergrad and grad school, and once I finished that, I got into mortgage financing. Now there’s three main ways in the finance, and mine was the mortgage path. From there, I started investing in primarily structuring funds for real estate projects. Andone thing led to another, to where we became a capital asset group, and I now run a corporation where we structure finance for real estate development.

Brett

Fantastic. And you know, you grew up in Elk Grove, I grew up in Rockland, you know, about 30minutes from each other. And, you know, going back then, I’m wondering, who is Zane growing up, what was like the one gift or two gifts that God’s given you, Zane? And how do you use that to bless and help

Zane Jacobs

absolutely love that. So, thanks for that question, by the way. Because, you know, every gift is also your greatest your greatest asset, your greatest liability. So, I’m high functioning autistic. Most people don’t know that, so I’d say my greatest gift is my intelligence. But at the same time, I’m very direct. So, a lot of times, people will think that maybe I could be offensive socially at times. So, when I was younger, I was always, you know, getting put out of class and getting, you know, put on time out or whatever the case is. And my teachers would always question, like, you have so much going for yourself, but like you can’t stay focused. But I think once I got in the Marines, that really straightened me out for being able to channel that. And so, I always laugh, because the kids that they say, you know, may or may not be most successful in life put on the right path, can be for sure. So, I’m a firm believer and proponent of helping the youth, because I just think it’s the trajectory and the mentorship that they take that really defines how they’re gonna end up in life.

Brett

Excellent. I love it. So, I would think, you know, the drive, the intensity and for things that you really want to channel, that would be like the strength, but for things that were not
something of interest, right? You knew how to say no to those, right? I mean, that’s entrepreneurs. Oh yeah, entrepreneurs, you know, superpower, right? I mean, I can definitely
relate to that, growing up, right? Being in the classes like so good. All right. So, with that in mind, let’s, let’s take it to the tough topic at hand, right, which is building compounding returns, right? While still, you know, being, you know, foundationally sound with the investment. So, what’s the number one secret to doing that as doing that as you’re structuring financial products or instruments within real estate? Yeah,

Zane Jacobs

yeah, I love it. So, as I said, I have a background in as you know, coming into the industry as a mortgage broker, so understanding the financial instruments that are available to to funding a real estate project is one of the pieces. But that’s actually not the most critical component. What’s the most critical component of the analysis portion? And so what a lot of people don’t understand is everything in life. It will only talk about wealthy people building asset. Wealth really comes down to equity. So, if your money is not sitting in a bank account, it’s sitting in some type of asset, whether that be real estate or whatnot, that holds value. And so being able to determine when something holds value and when something is losing value, so an entry or exit point, much like a stock investment, is critical. And a lot of that’s overlooked, especially in the real estate space, I have people ask me all the time, well, and going back to what Paul alluded to when you when you were talking to him about the 2009 crash, well, don’t be Don’t deceive yourself. There were many people that got rich. Window.
