For entrepreneurs and investors, managing finances today requires more than basic bookkeeping and year-end tax filing. Strategic financial leadership has become essential for scaling businesses, maximizing cash flow, reducing tax exposure, and creating long-term wealth. That’s where fractional CFO services can make a powerful difference. In this episode, Alex Lopez shares how business owners can gain access to high-level financial strategy without the full-time cost of an in-house CFO—helping them make smarter decisions with greater confidence and clarity.

From improving profitability and optimizing operational systems to preparing for major liquidity events, fractional CFO services are transforming the way growth-minded entrepreneurs manage their finances. Alex Lopez dives into the key financial strategies every business owner should understand, including cash flow management, tax planning, forecasting, and building a financial roadmap that aligns with both personal and business goals. Whether you’re scaling a company, investing in real estate, or preparing for a future exit, this conversation offers valuable insights on how to create more freedom and efficiency with your capital.

Mr. Alex Lopez, Alex, how we doing?

Alex
great. Thanks for having me, Brett, and happy to be here.

Brett
Absolutely, if our listeners get to know you for the first time, would you give us just a little bit more about your story and your current focus?

Alex
Absolutely, where to begin. I started my career in real estate about 20 years ago, the very peak of the previous boom, if you can believe it, I was effectively straight out of high school and young and ambitious, so an opportunity, and got very excited about real estate, and I got A little bit of a taste of money at an early age, and I thought that was going to be it, right? And it wasn’t long until the world came crumbling down, and the OA crisis just kind of destroyed everything. Well, I decided the OA crisis, but here in Florida, the crisis began earlier than that, particularly for those in the real estate business, and that is effectively the love of my life. Real Estate is something that I’ve carried with me all along since I was a kid, effectively, and it is still my specialty today in accounting and the CFO services and tax strategy, and the way it played out was once the crisis hit and everybody lost their shirts and the world came crumbling down. I sort of stumbled into the accounting world as I was working on my business degree. I always wanted that, right? I’ve been a business minded person my whole life, and entrepreneurially and business minded person, and I wanted a business degree. I didn’t know that I wanted to be in accounting, but they make you take accounting courses for any business degree, and I found I had a knack for it. And one thing led to the other. It was, it was also a bright spot in the economy at that time, you know, circa 2010 you know, when I was getting deep into my major there. You know, all of Wall Street was laying off left and right. You know, you could be an Ivy League MBA, and you’re likely not doing the best at that time, and I decided to double down on my schooling and major in accounting. And during that time, I also got an opportunity to get into commercial real estate with a dear friend and associate of mine, who landed that opportunity and brought me along. And I was at an interesting time when the market was
starting to come back, and, you know, they started looking up, and I was, I was getting pretty involved and learning a lot about the business. But then came graduation time. I was doing that when I was in college, alright, so probably, you know, working 5060, hour weeks and and studying in between. And I had to decide, you know, because the big firms in big accounting and consulting, they only want you straight out of college, if you take some time to play around and then figure that you want to be in that world, it’s a little late, right? So, I had to decide whether

Brett
