now. Um, one because you know, they’re not making land anymore. And when you see things crashing around your trees and agriculture, it doesn’t care what’s going on, it doesn’t care who’s president doesn’t care what viruses out there the trees still grow and grow and grow. And we can withstand any crash with just some time. And so it’s just, it’s just kind of a no brainer. Why they do it, I just really never knew why until I just dug deep into it to figure it out. It helps the carbon footprint, you know, by having agriculture. If you use it for food, it helps feed the earth, you know, we’re going to be at 9 billion people in a few years. So we’re going to have some, some struggles with feeding everybody. I mean, we already do now. But that’s another story why people go hungry. But that’s kind of I think the top reasons why

from an investment standpoint, right, you talked about so it’s a hedge against political and economic, you know, I don’t know, turmoil, whatever you want to call it, right? You know, but what about agriculturally specific from an investment standpoint is an advantage.

Well, it keeps going up in value, especially, you know, talking about Belize or any tourist destination. It’s going to just keep going up and up and up as more and more land sales. It’s just, I’ve seen it. You know, in the 13 years I’ve been living here. Agriculture just goes up whether you just sit on it, or you do something with it, or you can even lease it out to people who will then farm it for you. So, to me, that’s just one of the main reasons it’s a hedge against inflation. Also, you get some depreciation. We can depreciate all our trees on our chocolate farm. So if you have a farm of some sort, you can depreciate those. So it’s just, you know, not a tax accountant. You also want to check with your own tax advice, or tax professional but my tax professional just came back and said we can

Prior to living and investing in Belize, David was the founder and manager of Supergreen Inc., a successful landscaping company based in Charleston, South Carolina. In addition, he spent nearly 12 years serving his community as a Firefighter/Engineer for the Mount Pleasant, SC Fire Department.

He has donated a camcorder, tripod and 13 SD cards to the police major crimes unit to record interrogations for court. David is also a volunteer with the Placencia Volunteer Fire Department and a “Fire Board” member which builds new fire stations and soon the first trauma center in Placencia Village. He was recently featured on RE/MAX’s corporate website for donating fire trucks to the Belize community with the help of the organization Believe in Belize and the U.S. Air Force.
