He’s a CPA, and today we’re going to be talking about intentional business building and, and, and this in the background couldn’t be better, because this, this, this guest was, has worn, many hats again, licensed attorney, certified public accountant and a life accident health insurance producer. He became a certified CPA in 2007 received his Juris Doctor degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law and was licensed to practice in law in Oklahoma in 2008 but he’s more than all that. He’s been practicing helping his clients build intentionally with their taxes, with their wealth, with their business. Please welcome the show with me. Mr. Chris. Papin, Chris, how about him?
Chris
I am wonderful. I appreciate the intro. It’s always fun when you get when you get the info dump back about yourself for a few minutes. I appreciate that. Happy to be here.
Brett
Brett, yeah, well, grateful to have you. And yes. And so for our listeners, getting to know you for the first time, maybe just tell us a little bit more about your story and then
Chris
Yeah, so the elevator speech super quick is, I represent small businesses, and small business owners. Don’t let small fool you. That’s kind of an SBA definition of small that can get very wide several million dollars in revenue, you know, depending on how you go through and value things that can be multimillion dollar. Estates can be families, can be
businesses, kind of all in between. But the essence of what I try to break this down to is, folks are always like, well, what do you do more of law? CPA, I do the most sitting down with business owners and reasoning through, insert whatever it may be here, and helping folks’ kind of get to what their goals and objectives are. Sometimes that has a tax slant, sometimes it has a financing slant. Sometimes it’s investing, sometimes it’s risk mitigation. It’s all the objective of the client.
Brett
Excellent. Yeah, I like to say, put it this way, Chris, we don’t get we’re not in the business of solving tax problems or solving wealth problems, or we’re not in the business of providing these services. We’re just in the business of solving problems, and to the extent you can solve biggerproblems that are uniquely positioned to solve your clients or those who serves goals, the moreyou know, the more value you bring to the table. And so I love that Chris and I always like totake one other step back. You know, I believe we’ve all been given certain gifts in this life, andhis gifts have been given us to be blessing and help to others. I believe God’s given us thesegifts, and sometimes I believe, I also believe you can identify them pretty early on teenageyears, mostly people kind of discover a few of these. At least they’re the natural, natural thingsthat they look around. They go, Oh, maybe I do kind of have this against my siblings or my friends, or whatever it might be. What are those one or two gifts Chris that you believe you were given? And how does that help? How you help and bless people today?
Chris
So I think first and foremost, there is a something that my folks instilled in me, young and in you know, whether you look at it from a faithful perspective, like we do, or maybe just call it a true north kind of an ethical compass, there is a greater good to giving back helping other people. That’s really where I find enjoyment and fulfillment volunteer as a soccer coach for exactly that reason. But there’s also some gifts, if you will, where, through athletics, I started to see that I kind of see things unfold differently than other people do, and this is especially true when you sit in the seat of kind of both attorney and CPA, we just read the room different, and I think that perspective is unique.
