I find that the school of hard knocks is the best educational system out there. So I would love to hear those stories. But let’s start with letting the audience here get to know you better. Please tell us a little bit more about your story and your current focus.

Brandon

Yeah, so my wife and I are entrepreneurs, business owners, serial entrepreneurs, I guess you could say, because we’ve had multiple businesses now. We went into the coffee shop world because we wanted to make a difference there. And we didn’t realize that in order for that financial independence, retire early, we did the early part first and quit our jobs and started the brick and mortar business, which is not recommended. Don’t do brick and mortar if you want to make a lot of money, do something else. But with all that we wanted to make a difference. We wanted to change the world. And through all that we did everything right. We did like an IQ share. We did all the things business was growing. But people would say Yeah, but you love it. And I wasn’t paying myself. I wasn’t doing the right things and wasn’t able to grow because I didn’t have a lot of influx of capital to grow it right. You know, that’s how, if I watch Shark Tank, they’re always looking for money. Which is interesting. So I’m like, Well, I don’t have a rich relative uncle or somebody to help me grow this empire. And at the same time, we had a flood in the business, literally the roof was off. And, and it rained really badly. And I got a call from one of my staff and they said, this door is falling apart, you need to come in right now. And it was a little bit terrifying to walk in and see like your dream is gone. And at the same time, I did not know this at the time, but my wife was three to four months pregnant. We found out like a month later. And all of this is happening. And we also within our landlord, they were giving us a year, year to year lease on our real real estate business, right. And that in that business, which is not what you want, when you have a brick and mortar business, you want a longer lease kind of option. So all those things, we decided we needed to pivot change, sell the business, which we were able to sell the business not close the business, because of our access to capital early. Be able to overcome that obstacle, sell the business, and then move on to what we do now, which is really helping these business owners, people who want to make a difference in the world financially and real estate, actually make sure that they’re not just more in poverty because they started their business, right they a lot of business owners think that they’re gonna get rich, you know, by having to do my own thing, I’m going to be a business owner and I’m gonna do this and that, where really they work 60 hours so they don’t have to work 40 kind of idea.

Jessica

So just so our audience can get to know you even a little bit better. We believe here at the Capital Gains Tax solutions podcast that everybody comes to the planet with a special gift to share with others to make other people’s lives better. What’s your special gift? What’s your superpower?

Brandon

Yeah, I feel like one of ours is just looking at the world and realizing how we live with enough. The world is told you need a Buy more units to continue to consume. That’s the economy, right? And how do we build a foundational strategy? And understand looking at a balance sheet and saying, Look, you’re bleeding cash over here? How can we help? Make sure and build a system where you win, not just JP Morgan, or even if you’re in the real estate deal, that oftentimes people are like, I’m gonna fix and flip, I’m gonna do this. But they realize they’re, they’re really on a hamster wheel. Right. And so my superpower is helping people and getting off the hamster wheel, to being, you know, more of a place of not stress free. I wouldn’t say that. But a stable financial foundation. Sorry, we had the still method and those kinds of things.

Jessica

So that’s a great segue into our topic for today’s show, which is building foundational wealth. Let’s talk about that. That still process talks to us a little bit about what that is.
