Randy

Brett, I’m doing great. It’s a pleasure to be on your show, man. I really appreciate it

Brett

For listeners get tonight for the first time, would you give us just a little bit more about your story and your current focus?

Randy

Sure. Brett, Houston, Texas, as I said, so my journey really got started in commercial real estate about just about 10 years ago, I was working for a private equity company in Cleveland, Ohio, and I was afraid, afraid I was going to lose my job. I had a was an executive with a pretty good number on my back for cost savings. And at that point, I really had one of those aha moments that I I need to find another income stream. I need to find something to protect my family. Started looking around at small businesses, franchises, etc., etc., and had a brother-in-law who came to me and told me he had just been to Armando Montego’s Flipping school. So, I started out in single family, hard money lending, and then came to Houston for business purposes when I landed the job and started attending every real estate investment group I could and learned multifamily. And once I learned multifamily, I never turned back. I’ve just really enjoyed the space I’m all in. Like you said, I’ve got about 1300 doors today. Is that you GP, and I’m a limited partner in other people’s deals and still like to invest in other people’s deals. So, I’m doing it full time. I left the corporate world about two years ago to do this full time. I don’t need to-do it. I want to do it, and I enjoy doing it, and gives me purpose for the for the legacy purposes. And so, I’m having a whole lot of fun with life. Brett.

Brett

I love it. Randy. Great story, great background. I love the corporate w2 to the multifamily, you know, not only passive in some ways, but also active and helping others do the same. So, so we’re gonna talk about the, you know, the five secrets to scaling your multifamily investments or business in a minute. But I’m kind of curious. Randy growing up, you know, what was your What was your superstrength, or your superpower like, you know, what’s the thing that was always just kind of easy to Randy? And how do you use that to help people and bless people today?

Randy

I think if I was like growing up, I would say I was a jock. I loved athletics, football and basketball were the ones, and so that, you know, I didn’t play in college. I played it for a year. But, I mean, the reality is, what that teaches you, Brett, as you know, is team building, getting along with others, and the importance of working in a team environment. Went on to do that in the corporate world, of building teams and reaching the executive positions. And so, it teaches how to compete. It teaches you how to lose. It teaches you the importance of practice, just to name a few. And so, I think I’m very thankful of that background and encourage others to seek their secret, whatever their secret sauce is, or their secret power.

Brett

I love it, Randy. It reminds me of my days at Marcus and Millichap multifamily broker to start out of my career. And I remember the practicing, the cold call in, sitting down, and the in the Monday morning meeting, and then for after that meeting, about 30 minutes that you would you practice the ring right. And you’d say, ring, ring, right. I think about sports. I played football, basketball. Going up and practice the jump stop, and you practice the shot fake and the bounce pass like every day, or like even throughout, all, you know, from a very young age all the way through high school. You know, it was just like the consistent fundamentals. Talk about the importance of multi Fanny fundamentals right now, given the marketplace the last, you know, couple of years with interest rates going pretty high, what have you found to be like, the core fundamental that's helped to keep, perhaps you and your investors little safer than what's happened? So, if you like this little, short clip of the interview I just did, click over here to watch the full interview, and please don’t forget to subscribe. Thanks so much, everybody.
